2011 Advent Season Events

Dec 30 & 31 - "No Vacancy, LA?" at 8pm in the Social Hall
Since 1980, “No Vacancy?” has been performed in Korea. For 30 years, this heart-warming story has spread mainly by word of mouth. In 2003, Young Lan Kim was asked to direct “No Vacancy?” and she re-wrote this drama with the stories of Korean American immigrants.

A poignant Christmas story of Korean immigrants living in Los Angeles, trying to adapt to a new culture and missing the traditions of the old. Bilingual Korean-English. The play follows church members as they gather to prepare for a Christmas play entitled “The First Christmas.” Come see what happens when the cast member acting as the innkeeper confuses her role and instead of refusing to give Mary and Joseph a place to stay, offers her own room and begs them to stay.

Tickets $15 per person

Dec 31 - New Year's Eve Service at 11pm
On New Year’s Eve we are having a "tri-lingual" service to welcome in the New Year. This is for the entire church family and our Studio City community. The service will be conducted by Revs. Young Lan Kim, Young Jun Yang, Alfredo Gomez and Louise Sloan Goben - in Korean, Spanish and English. There are traditions in both the Latino and Korean communities of hosting New Year's Eve services of worship, complete with traditional foods that are shared within these communities.

Join us in the Sanctuary at 11pm. We will welcome 2012 with singing and prayer. Immediately following, we will share a meal in the Social Hall. Come try Tamales, Dukguk soup, Ham and Black-eyed peas - foods that are traditional to welcome in the new year and bring blessing to everyone in 2012!
